STS have developed the all new Safe-Series of training devices to meet the growing needs of the Nuclear Industry to carry out extensive training without the use of real sources.
The Safe-Series uses a low powered Radio Frequency (2.4GHz) source and unique RF detection system to simulate ionising radiation fields.

The use of RF allows the system to demonstrate many of the characteristics of ionising radiation- including; Attenuation & Shielding, inverse square relationship and the isotropic nature of ionising radiation from a point source.

The system uses a miniature source (the Safe-MiniSource) to produce an RF field which can be detected at a distance of over 10 metres. The unique propagation of the radio waves from the sources antennae mean that the source may be detected from any angled approach including from above and below.
